This is the story of a miraculous object, which was found by Mr. Prem Kumar Dhingra, a friend of mine, just by chance. I call it 9th Wonder because this type of object has never come to my knowledge before. I am sure that you will agree with me when you have finished reading this note.
Mr. Prem Kumar Dhingra, aged about 85 years, lives in Jabalpur, a very famous pilgrimage spot situated on the right bank of pious river Narmada in Madhya Pradesh (India). He is a retired electronics engineer from a government department. Mr. Dhingra is a living storehouse of many qualities such as astrology, palmistry, numerology, reiki, naturopathy, face reading and many more similar attributes. He can successfully predict the sex of an unborn child without the help of any modern gadget, just by looking at the face of mother to be. I have personally seen certificates and testimonials from the parents and doctors about his prediction.
Mr. Dhingra's house is located in an area where lot of construction work was in progress. Sand required for construction work in this area is brought from the vicinity of river Narmada. It contains pebbles of various sizes and is, therefore, passed through a sieve to separate these from the sand. A house was under construction adjacent to my friend's house and the pebbles separated from sand were scattered in front of the house. One day he was pacing up and down in front of his house, drowned in his thoughts. Suddenly, as he told me, he had a strange experience. He said that while passing by a particular spot, he felt as if someone was asking him, "You are a collector of curios. Can't you see me? I am lying here. Don't you like me?" He was astonished as there was nobody else in the vicinity at the time. Just out of curiosity, he walked past that spot 2 or 3 times. And to his great surprise, he heard the same message every time he passed that spot. Then he started looking down on the road on that spot. There he saw a strange small stone among the discarded pebbles, a bit different in appearance from other pebbles. I would like to mention here that the stones and pebbles found in the sand from rivers are polished smooth and made into beautiful round shapes by the flowing water. Such, oval stones in the shape of shivling are found in plenty in River Narmada. These are called natural shivlings. Some of these shivlings have been found with water locked inside the glass like transparent stone, but these are very rare.
Mr. Dhingra picked up the stone that caught his eye as something different from other pebbles. He brought it home and put it on his table. This stone, measuring approximately 1.5 inch x 1.2, rectangular in shape, is reddish brown in colour. It seems as if three different layers of stone have been pasted together. One facet of this stone is white and looks like a television screen surrounded by a thin border on all sides.
Days passed by and nothing strange or miraculous happened. But one day, the lights in the house went out due to power failure and the emergency lamp kept on the table lit up. He picked up this stone to make suitable room for the emergency lamp. And a strange, unbelievable thing happened. To his great astonishment, Mr. Dhingra found the light shining “through” the stone. Have you ever seen a stone that allows rays of light to pass through it? Never! This is against the laws of nature. Even X-rays cannot pass through a hard object like stone or bone. But this strange stone allowed the light to pass through it. And that is not all. There are other strange factors related to this stone. If its white facet is exposed to light it passes through the stone and you can see it on the other side. But, if you shine light on the reddish brown side, it does not pass through the stone.
Now we come to the most wonderful part of the story which makes this small stone the 9th Wonder. When light is passed through the stone, 2 clear cut images can be seen by naked eye on the reddish brown side of the stone. One of these images is of the head of an elephant, which in Hindu religion is looked upon as Lord Ganesha, Ganapati, Siddhi Vinayak and many other names. The head, one ear, the single tusk, the long trunk with 2 openings representing the nostrils are clearly reflected. Oh my God! Isn’t it great and wonderful!!!!! The second image, appearing at the lower end on left side of the stone is that of a human face, with clearly demarcated forehead, long hair falling upon shoulder, two eyes, nose, chin and beard. It looks very much like the face of a Yogi or Fakir. These images can be clearly seen in the attached photographs.
As I mentioned in the beginning, this is a unique stone, the only one of its kind in the world known so far. This has been mentioned in the Limca Book of Records 2006.
Mr. Dhingra is now 85 years old. He would like to dispose of this curio, but he desires that it should pass into the possession of a person who will really respect the value of this wonderful object.
